Jón Þór Birgisson

Jón Þór Birgisson, commonly known as Jónsi, is an Icelandic musician, best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the indie rock band Sigur Rós. Born on April 23, 1975, in Reykjavik, Iceland, Jónsi’s music is characterized by its ethereal soundscapes, falsetto voice, and the use of the Icelandic language, as well as made-up languages like Vonlenska. Notable works include Sigur Rós’s critically acclaimed albums such as “Ágætis Byrjun” (1999), “()” (2002), and “Takk...” (2005), which have significantly influenced the post-rock genre. His solo work, including the album “Go” (2010) and the soundtrack for the film "We Bought a Zoo" (2011), showcases his unique blend of ambient, experimental, and orchestral music.
